A Seventies Flashback

A Seventies Flashback

Isn’t it frustrating when an old fashion trend comes back, and you find yourself regretting all the cool stuff you got rid of years ago? I’m usually the type to clear out my closet without any hesitation, but now I’m feeling serious FOMO over the stylish clothes I used to have that would be perfect today.

First, it was the 2000s, then we revisited the 90s, bypassed the 80s (thankfully), and now we’re embracing the 70s this fall. I’m really into this vibe. It hits me hard when I think about the perfect brown corduroy flares I had when I was 17. I saw a photo of me wearing them and wished I still had those unique pieces.

I never thought I’d miss brown clothing, but this trend is really making me reconsider. I’ve been rethinking my style, moving away from the strictly monochrome look, and I’m excited to add the vibrant colors of the 70s into my wardrobe.

For my first 70s-inspired outfit of the season, I wore these fun embroidered pinafores with a sheer black mesh crop top to dress it up a bit, and I topped it off with yellow lens aviators for that extra retro touch.

If you’re thinking about dipping into this trend, here are some styles to watch for: pinafore dresses (suede or corduroy), turtlenecks for layering, high-waisted bell bottoms, Missoni-style knits with the classic zig-zag patterns, babydoll tees, lettuce hems, retro graphics, colorful stripes, silk headscarves, and for the holidays, gold lamé, velvet, and sequins.
