Fashionlush Book Club: This Month's Top 5 Essential Reads

My big goal for 2018 was to read more. I’ve always loved diving into books, but when life gets busy, reading is often the first thing I skip. To make sure I get my reading time in, I found a quirky, time-saving trick: I buy both the eBook and the audio version of a book. At home, I read the eBook, and in the car, I continue with the audiobook. It’s a bit pricey to buy two versions, but it helps me power through my long reading list, so I think it’s worth it.

I also keep books on my phone so I can read anywhere, like at the nail salon. Basically, I read whenever I can. So far in 2018, I’ve already read more books than in all of 2017, so my routine seems to be paying off. The books I’ve picked this year have been amazing, especially the creepy and thrilling ones, which I love.

I thought it’d be fun to start a virtual Fashionlush Book Club and invite you all to join! I’ve always wanted to be in a book club, so why not start one here? While we may not be able to read together in person, this list will get you started. I’d love to hear your thoughts if you read any of them or have already!

Also, I’m always on the lookout for good book recommendations, so please share your favorites!

**FASHIONLUSH BOOK CLUB | FAVORITE READS AT THE MOMENT**

1. **Good Me, Bad Me by Ali Land**
This is my current read, and it’s fantastic! I can’t say much without spoiling it, but trust me, it’s a real page-turner. I discovered it on iTunes’ bestseller list, which is where I find most of my reads, and I’ve been recommending it to everyone. It’s about a creepy mother situation that will leave you stunned.

2. **Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty**
If you enjoyed “Big Little Lies,” you’ll love this one. It’s by the same author and is really good. I hope they make it into a show too, because I imagined Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman in the lead roles. If you haven’t heard of “Big Little Lies,” I highly recommend watching the show based on the book. Can’t wait for season two!

3. **The Girl with Seven Names by Hyeonseo Lee**
This isn’t my usual type of book—I’m more into fiction thrillers—but the five-star reviews caught my attention. It’s a true story about Hyeonseo Lee’s escape from North Korea, where she even returns to rescue her mom successfully. It’s powerful and eye-opening, a must-read for sure!

4. **The Silent Wife by A.S.A. Harrison**
I’ve never been scared by a book before, but this one genuinely terrified me—in a good way. I finished it in two days, staying up super late because I couldn’t put it down. I found it when I googled “books like Gone Girl,” and this was the first result. If you liked “Gone Girl,” you’re going to love this one.

5. **Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule**
A friend had this book, and I checked out the back cover. Although I usually prefer fiction, I’m always up for a creepy non-fiction story. It’s about Ted Bundy, written by a friend and coworker who had no idea he was a serial killer. Even after his conviction, she spoke with him to write this book. With the new Ted Bundy movie coming out, it’s the perfect time to read this classic from 1980! It’s next on my reading list.
