Hey there, I’m Erica, and if you’re new here, I love to smoke weed. I know that might surprise some people, which is why I like to talk about it openly. I’m not trying to be anyone’s cannabis role model, but I do enjoy sharing my experiences as a functional stoner in today’s world. It’s fascinating how we can now buy joints at fancy boutiques!
About a year ago, my mom and I started Fashionkush as a creative extension of my original blog, Fashionlush. Our goal was to break the stoner stereotype and introduce some style to cannabis culture. Keep an eye on Fashionkush because we have some exciting things coming up that you won’t want to miss!
Now, back to why we’re here. Since I’ve been open about my cannabis use, I’ve received a ton of questions about it. So, I thought I’d gather them all together and answer them here on the blog. If your question wasn’t answered, feel free to shoot me an email. Otherwise, this post would be longer than a CVS receipt!
Think of it as a stoner’s advice column, similar to Ask Alice. Also, if you’re looking for more cannabis-related content, check out The Mary Jane Diaries.
**Your Mary Jane Questions, Answered!**
**Q: When did you start smoking?**
I started at 16, using creative methods like an apple or a beer can, and occasionally sneaking some from my mom’s stash. Back then, like many teens, it was all about partying. During college, I smoked less because I was busy at bars, but after graduation, I became more of a “functioning stoner.”
**Q: How do you prefer to consume weed?**
I love joints and, more broadly, flower. Dabs or wax aren’t my thing, as they can be intense. Edibles? Let’s just say I once thought I needed to call 911. Vapes don’t suit me either, so I stick with good old-fashioned flower.
**Q: What’s the best part of smoking weed for you?**
Weed helps clear my mind, boosts creativity, eases anxiety, and lets me focus intensely.
**Q: Does weed help your anxiety? Do you have a favorite strain for this?**
Absolutely! It’s the main reason I smoke. I used to rely on medication for anxiety, but now, thanks to weed, I’m barely on meds. I prefer indica hybrids to avoid the anxiety that sativa strains can cause.
**Q: Can you explain different weed strains? What’s your favorite?**
Indica strains make you relax (“in da bed”), while sativa gives a more energetic head high, which isn’t for me as it increases anxiety. I like indica-dominant hybrids for a balanced effect without anxiety.
**Q: Sometimes weed makes me anxious. What should I do?**
If you accidentally smoke sativa and feel anxious, try CBD to calm you down. It’s a lifesaver!
**Q: Do you set rules for smoking? Do you feel like you need to smoke?**
I enjoy smoking but don’t need it. When traveling, I can go without, though it does affect my appetite. I don’t have strict smoking rules, but naturally, I usually wait until the evening unless I need a midday boost to focus on work.
**Q: Do you ever struggle with productivity after smoking?**
Not really! If productivity was an issue, I wouldn’t smoke. The strain and method of consumption make a difference, so I avoid those that might hinder productivity.
**Q: How do you balance smoking and eating healthy?**
I keep healthy snacks around to manage munchies, although they’re inevitable. Some days I snack on fruit, veggies, or a homemade almond butter dip, reserving indulgent treats for the weekend.
**Q: Can you recommend a stylish bong?**
Check out Summerland Ceramics for chic bongs that look good on display.
**Q: How do your clients feel about you working while high?**
Clients don’t mind, and actually, the stereotype of lazy stoners is outdated. My work is highly creative, and weed only enhances my ability to produce quality work.
**Q: Thoughts on joint rollers vs. hand rolling?**
Both work for me. Hand rolling is an art form, but machines can make things easier. As long as you can roll a joint, you’re good!
**Q: What do you use for pain relief?**
For cramps, any weed works, including CBD drops if you don’t want the high. For injuries, topical CBD or THC can be helpful.
**Q: Favorite dispensaries in San Diego?**
I’m a fan of EAZE Delivery and their deals. Some popular dispensaries include Goldn Bloom, Urbn Leaf, Apothekare, and MedMen.
