I’m notorious for falling for flashy marketing tactics, meaning I often end up buying things I don’t really need just because they look appealing and everyone raves about them. This is especially true when it comes to fancy beauty tools. Honestly, it’s embarrassing how many of these gadgets are just collecting dust in a drawer.
Take the Clarisonic cleansing brush, for instance. I got it because it was highly recommended, but it didn’t work for me. It felt dirty and caused severe breakouts. Then there was a tool that promised to give me lips like Kylie Jenner, but instead, it just left my lips bruised.
Last weekend, my sister, who is a decluttering guru, made me clean out this drawer full of beauty tools and separate the ones that actually work. I figured I’d share the six I genuinely find worthwhile.
1. Allegra Magic Globes
I’ve experienced these during multiple facials, and it took me a while to finally buy a pair on Amazon. Despite having an ice roller I like, I now prefer using these globes. They stay cold longer and are far better for lymphatic drainage. Plus, they feel incredible on my face.
These globes massage facial tissue, tighten skin, reduce dark circles and puffiness under the eyes, minimize pores, boost collagen, increase circulation, and promote lymphatic drainage. They’re surprisingly durable too, despite occasional bumps and clinks.
2. Rose Quartz Gua Sha Tools
I’m obsessed with my Gua Sha tools. You can choose between jade or rose quartz, but I prefer the energy of rose quartz, even though jade is also beneficial for anti-aging. Using Gua Sha involves gently scraping the skin in an upward motion which improves circulation, clears the lymphatic system, and contours the face. I absolutely love it.
3. Eterno LED Red Light Device
I purchased this about a month ago and haven’t stopped using it since. I was a fan of LED light facials before, but they’re most effective with regular use, so having this device at home is fantastic.
This red light device helps with collagen production, pore size reduction, evening out skin tone, tightening skin, smoothing wrinkles, and healing scars. Although this device only features red light, there are blue light options available that are excellent for tackling acne bacteria. I use this for about 20 minutes, three times a week, right after washing my face.
4. Derma Roller
A derma roller has tiny needles that you roll over your skin to promote collagen production, heal acne scars, and improve skin texture. Although I initially stopped using it because it was too harsh, I’ve found a gentler version which I now love. I use it once a week, pairing it with a Vitamin C serum with Hyaluronic Acid after showering.
5. Foreo ‘Iris’ Illuminating Eye Massager
I struggle with dark circles, and this under-eye massager from Foreo does wonders. Its shape fits perfectly under the eyes, and the massaging motion helps drain lymphatic fluid. I notice a difference immediately. It’s great for using before makeup or at night with eye patches.
6. Rose Gold & Geranium Facial Roller
Consistent facial massage and rolling improve skin appearance significantly. This is my go-to roller for daily use because it’s quick and effective. I roll it over my face for about a minute after applying serum, either morning or night. I also love using it on my neck to prevent tech neck. Its chic rose gold design and energizing geranium stones enhance and lift the skin.
These are the beauty tools I believe truly live up to their hype.
