It’s been a while since I’ve even glanced at my leather pieces—mainly faux leather—in my closet because it’s been just too darn hot. But when I finally dug them out and dusted them off, I noticed they needed a bit of an update. Sure, a leather jacket is still just a leather jacket, and a leather skirt is just a leather skirt, but keeping things fresh with the changing seasons is key, especially with the 2017 leather trends really stepping up.
Leather is looking edgier than ever, which is impressive since leather always adds that edgy vibe, even when paired with something simple like a sweatshirt. A few weeks ago in San Francisco, I spotted the jacket I’m wearing now on a mannequin as soon as we walked into Forever 21. It was one of those must-have moments. It offered the fresh kind of leather jacket I was searching for and looked like a million bucks, even though it was probably $40 (yay for faux leather!). I’m pretty sure it was a men’s jacket, but I loved the oversized fit. There was a bit of drama because they wouldn’t take it off the mannequin for me, but luckily, my cousin stepped in and offered to pick it up and send it to me.
This is just the start of my leather wardrobe makeover. I’m still on the lookout for a cool leather hat, new leather pants, and a stylish leather skirt to wear with a chunky sweater and black tights.
Here’s my leather wishlist!
