I probably wear too much denim, but I can’t help it. I’m not afraid to rock a full denim combo like Britney and JT back in 2000, and I’m always on the lookout for new denim styles to add to my already overflowing collection.
This Fall, denim trends are really heating up. I believe in having solid wardrobe basics like plain skinny jeans or good bootcuts, but when the seasons change, it’s fun to mix things up with some unique pieces. A big trend I’ve noticed, which kind of applies to Fall fashion in general, is the comeback of the seventies style. We’ve skipped over the nineties and jumped straight to the seventies, which is fine by me because I’m not really into the eighties trends. But I could definitely use a seventies movie marathon for some style inspiration. Moving forward, I’m all about channeling my inner Penny Lane.
Now, let’s dive into my favorite denim trends of the moment!
**Top Fall 2017 Denim Trends**
1. **Little Denim Dresses**
This one might not be for everyone, but for those on the West Coast dealing with the heat, denim dresses are much more comfortable than skinny jeans! You can dress them up with some fun heels or go casual with white sneakers. If you live in a cooler climate, try the dress over denim bell bottoms or black flares if full denim outfits aren’t your style.
2. **Raw Denim & Exposed Stitches**
This season is all about that seventies revival! I wasn’t a huge fan of raw denim before, but now I’m seeing it everywhere, and I’m really into it. Especially when it has some red and white stitching details.
3. **Extra Large Denim Bells**
This is another seventies throwback, and it’s pretty exciting for me because I’ve always loved a good pair of flares. They are super flattering and always make me look taller.
4. **The Denim Jumpsuit**
Here’s another seventies denim revival: the denim jumpsuit. It gives me all the feels. Overalls are fun for the summer, but denim jumpsuits are perfect for Fall.
5. **Patchwork & Reconstructed Denim Jackets**
This trend puts a new twist on distressed denim by reconstructing it. Think vintage Levi jackets that are cropped, patched, reworked, have shearling added, and so on. I love jean jackets, so I’m definitely into this trend.
6. **Side Striped Jeans**
This trend is fun and edgy! I love a good pair of jeans, but I love them even more with a little flair. I have a pair of dark denim skinny jeans with red stripes down the side, and I got stopped in the street when I wore them. The vertical stripes are super elongating for the legs.
