My motivation completely tanked before the new year. I’m usually a super productive person, but suddenly I was wasting time on things like conspiracy theories instead of my to-do list. I felt stuck, but I knew I needed to get back on track. I’m back now, and these seven tips helped me get there:
1. **Write it all down:** When feeling overwhelmed, writing things down is key. List projects, deadlines, ideas—everything. I know we’re all digital, but using pen and paper really helps me. And make it fun! A nice notebook and pen can make a big difference.
2. **Daily to-do lists:** Unlike the above, I create my daily list on my computer. I limit it to five tasks, prioritizing the most tedious ones first. Getting those done early gives me momentum.
3. **Calendar everything:** I use Google Calendar to schedule everything – appointments, meals, work tasks, even breaks. Color-coding helps me visualize my day and keep things moving.
4. **Keep your eye on the prize:** Having a clear goal is crucial. Write it down. If it feels wrong or you’re more passionate about something else, adjust your goal accordingly. Don’t force yourself to do things you’re not excited about.
5. **Find inspiration:** When stuck, I spend an hour browsing Pinterest, We Heart It, or Tumblr. Seeing others’ productivity and creativity inspires me.
6. **Take a break:** When I’m spinning my wheels, I take a break – a workout, a walk, anything to reset. Fresh air helps a lot.
7. **Stop multitasking:** I used to be a huge multitasker, but it’s a time waster. Focusing on one thing at a time is much more efficient.
