Living Room Style: A Collection of Accent Chairs

Finding the right chair was a real challenge for me. I probably spent too much time looking and ended up overwhelmed by all the choices. If you know me, you know too many options can stress me out, just like big menus at restaurants. So, I reached out to you guys for some advice, and the consensus was clear: blue velvet was the favorite. Luckily, that’s what I had imagined from the start.

I wanted to share some of the chairs that almost made the cut because a lot of you are also on the hunt for cool chairs. I’ve never had an accent chair at my place since I usually go for a minimalistic style. But with this house, I wanted to try adding a bit more flair. I’m moving away from just black and white decor and adding some color, starting with a new rug I’m crazy about and my new navy velvet chair, which just fits perfectly. I nearly went with green since many of you liked it, but it felt too festive, and the navy velvet really accentuates the blue in the rug.

Decorating is a slow process for me because, let’s face it, I’m not great at making quick decisions. But it’s slowly coming together, and I’m really happy with the progress.

Here’s the rundown on the chairs I considered, along with the one I ended up choosing:

The West Elm ‘Rowan’ chair: I almost went for camel-colored leather at one point instead of navy velvet. This chair was incredibly stylish and would have matched the rug beautifully. But since our couch is black leather, I decided to stick with velvet. Plus, it’s currently 50% off, a great deal!

The Innit Designs white and gold Acapulco chair: I still love this one, as I’ve never seen a white and gold Acapulco chair before. However, Zack insisted on comfort, so we passed on it. But if we ever find the right spot, maybe in our bedroom, I’d love to get it.

The Urban Outfitters ‘Cooper’ velvet lounge chair: This one was all about comfort and Zack’s favorite. Unfortunately, it didn’t come in dark navy, otherwise, it might have been our pick. It would look amazing in a relaxed room with a record player and other cozy items.

The Kardiel Cowhide lounge chair: I’m a big fan of cowhide. If we’d stuck with black and white, this would have been perfect, though it might have clashed with the rug. Still, it’s a great chair.

The Heanor navy velvet armchair: This one was the ultimate winner! It’s luxurious, comfortable, navy, velvet, and it checked all our boxes. Plus, the price was just right.
