It’s almost Mother’s Day, and since I adore my mom, Linda, I wanted to share ten things I love about her. You’ve gotten to know her better through my Instagram, and I’ve loved sharing her with you all. Your sweet comments to her mean the world to both of us. She even calls her friends to read them aloud – it’s the cutest thing! We have lots more exciting things planned, and I’m thrilled she’s on this journey with me as my best friend, manager, assistant, and life coach.
1. She’s a Libra through and through! She always sees both sides of a situation. Even if someone’s clearly wrong, she tries to understand their perspective.
2. She’s up for anything, anytime. Road trip to LA tomorrow? Breakfast in bed? A Postmates order and a scary movie night? Lobster in Mexico this weekend? She’s in the car and on her way! Her spontaneity inspires me.
3. She’s the most selfless mom ever. She always helps my sister and me. She even spent two hours at the courthouse for me recently because it was closer to her and she didn’t want to disrupt my workday! She drives us to the airport, even at 3 AM, because she knows I hate flying. She’ll organize my closet when I’m stressed, and visits almost weekly, even though it’s a long drive. She’ll do anything for her kids.
4. She’s incredibly comforting. It’s not just her, but her presence. That feeling of being totally relaxed at your mom’s house? That’s her. I often sleep over, and it’s my cozy haven. She cooks, we relax, watch shows, use face masks, and she tucks me into the comfiest bed ever.
5. She’s always been a go-getter! She was an amazing salesperson and a successful real estate agent. Even retired, she’s building a house in Mexico and working with me on a big, exciting secret project! I love her drive.
6. She’s the best grandma ever. My nephew just turned one, and seeing her become a grandma has been wonderful. He’s completely obsessed with her – it’s adorable.
7. She’s hilarious! You probably know this already, but she used to do stand-up comedy. Growing up with her was always fun and full of laughter. She captivates a room and has everyone in stitches in minutes. I love how much you all love her humor too.
8. She loves shoes, fashion, and bargains – just like me! Shopping at TJ Maxx is one of our favorite things to do. She’s the TJ Maxx queen! We both love finding great deals and we both love clothes. I raided her closet in high school, and I still do! Her shoe collection is amazing.
9. She’s very independent and self-sufficient. Unlike me (I need someone to hold my hand at the grocery store!), she figures things out and gets them done. She goes to movies alone, took a solo trip to Mexico, and I think even went on a solo cruise once! She’s an independent woman!
10. She’s my home base. My family jokes I haven’t cut the umbilical cord yet because I love being with her more than anyone else. I’ve talked about my anxiety, and while I have coping mechanisms, nothing calms me down like my mom. She always knows the right thing to say.
